Top fitness classes for women in Indianapolis
I am a fitness junkie. I love the accountability of a class with others, the sound of my feet hitting the ground during a solo trail run, and the clinking of machines in a gym setting. As theCityMoms looks back at our nearly year-long #tCMGetFit initiative though - a program that allowed us to partner monthly with different fitness studios around Indianapolis - we're sending shouts to the studios with the top fitness classes for women in Indianapolis. A look at the top fitness classes for women in Indianapolis:
1. Burn Boot Camp of Carmel
Admittedly, the photo above is our before pic from our visit to the new{er} Burn Boot Camp of Carmel. I was wayyyyy nervous going in to my first class but learned quickly that interval training "burns" a ton of calories, and makes me feel like a total badass on the backend. No two classes are the same, hugs and high fives are totes encouraged among class-goers and BBC instructors are super-skilled in the art of motivation. Their 45-minute class style lent itself well to multiple interval circuits from burpees to kettlebell work to short sprints to star jumps. This #tCMGetFit Studio of the Month had all of us rushing the member desk after class to signup. BONUS: Saturday morning classes are not only free and open to the community, but also offer free childcare!

2. Hoosier Heights
So maybe not your regulation female "class" per se but as our November #tCMGetFit Studio of the Month, we definitely wrangled the Hoosier Heights master course builder into one and she was wonderful. As an avid outdoorswoman, I've not really tapped my inner climbing queen yet so Hoosier Heights is perfect for beginners like me {and they also offer plenty of membership opps for those with more experience}. Each climber is required to have a spotter which builds a fast bond with your fellow female class-goers.
Location: Northwest Indianapolis
Getting started: First-timers are required to do a brief intro course with Hoosier Heights staffers
3. Hot Room Yoga
I've tried ALL types of yoga classes. But I was especially taken with the culture inside Hot Room during our July #tCMGetFit visit. Owner Hye-Jin is a local momma and she just gets the need for a positive studio environment. From start to finish, she meticulously explained the poses we were doing, why they were beneficial for your body, and made changes when needed to accommodate our various body types. And I especially loved what a loving environment it felt like at the studio.

Talk about #girlpower. You can't help but feel the power after leaving a Class UFG Cym sesh - it's a a modern twist on traditional boxing and high intensity interval training classes in a high energy environment, designed to fit all fitness levels. We love boxing/lifting/kicking our worries away in class. Or maybe the full-body high we feel after. Either way, it's no wonder these gyms are expanding across Indianapolis.

5. Pure Barre
With the newest studio now open in Noblesville, Pure Barre has definitely established a foothold in the greater Indianapolis area. I'm personally partial to the Broad Ripple studio and staff {hiiiii ladies!}, but can note while traveling recently I popped into a Michigan-based Pure Barre and was thrilled to see that classes universally operated almost the same. Each class includes a regimented series of moves using sliders, weights, pilates balls or the barre, and you will definitely feel the positive effects post-workout. The instructors are all welcoming and able to make adjustments for mom and female-bods on the fly. I remember confessing to instructor Laura a couple months back about my raging case of cramps and she gave me easy changes to our Barre moves to help. BONUS: Complete a certain number of classes and you'll sign a physical barre linking you to the PB female culture for life.

Getting started: Most studios offer the first week free. Sticky socks are a must and sold onsite {or bring your own}.
6. CycleBar
My dad is a cyclist and I spend my summers watching the Tour de France. So I thought I'd have a natural penchant for CycleBar and boy was I wrong. I had. to. work. it. for our recent theCityMoms class with CycleBar Carmel, never realizing my so-called natural cycling ability would be challenged as much as it was. Thank goodness for instructor Shelby who pushed us to the max during this upbeat workout - our group loved the class tempo, music, and constant shouts of encouragement to keep going. Afterward, we clicked our cycling shoes into the lobby and confessed together that had it not been for the ladies around us {and the monitors reporting who was doing best during each interval!}, we may not have made it out alive. And we loved every minute of it.
